Parental guidance

Being a parent is often demanding, and it can lead to bad thoughts and feelings when you experience challenges. It is not unusual to be unsure of how to understand the child's needs, or handle the child's expression and behaviour.

Many parents want concrete advice and guidance, and others may feel the need for help to manage their own feelings and thoughts related to the child or the parenting role.

Whatever the reason, it can sometimes be very useful to talk to an outside professional, to get new perspectives, knowledge, tools, guidance, or support to find good solutions yourself.

What is parental guidance?

In parent guidance, the psychologist will listen to your challenges and guide you in mastering the parenting role. You will learn to respond to your child's emotions and behavior in a positive way, set safe boundaries, and strengthen the bond between you.

The psychologist uses research-based knowledge, and together you will create a plan to work on what is important and useful for you.

Parent guidance is offered via video or at our clinic in Vika, Oslo. This service is available for one or both parents, without children present.

Who is parental guidance suitable for?

Parental guidance is suitable for anyone who wants tools to give their child a safe and good upbringing, increase their own well-being in the parental role and increase the opportunities for a better relationship with the child.
